Real Weddings | Jenna + Reid | July 27, 2019
Last summer, we had the joy of being a part of Jenna and Reid’s incredible wedding day. Every part of the day was pure magic, from the London themed details to the way these two adore each other. As they mentioned in their Brides of North Texas feature, the day was thoughtfully designed to complement their story and one-of-a-kind love.
Having just celebrated their first anniversary, Jenna and Reid took the time to share their favorite parts of the day with us. Enjoy!
From Jenna:
Reid and I met at our high school in London, England in 2013. We started dating Reid’s senior year of high school, my junior year, so we lived in the same place for a short amount of time before Reid went off to college and we started long distance! I remained in London to finish high school, and Reid went to college in Syracuse. After I graduated high school our long distance went from London-Syracuse, to Fort Worth-Syracuse as I began school at TCU. After finishing school, Reid moved to Chicago for a year then FINALLY made it to Dallas in 2018. Now our long distance was only a 40-minute drive compared to the thousands of miles apart before. After four years of long distance, travelling to 11 countries, making thousands of skype and facetime calls, Reid decided he could not wait any longer and on August 17, 2018 he popped the question.
We wanted the feel of our wedding to be elegant and simplistic, but we also wanted to incorporate a London theme since that city was so special to us. Reid grew up in London, and his family still lives there today. It was where we met, and many of our guests travelled to the wedding from England and various parts of the world, so we knew we wanted to incorporate some British touches to the wedding.
We were looking for a venue that could host the ceremony and reception in once place. The Laurel was an incredible venue for fulfilling that wish and for many other reasons! The space and facilities were bright and open, and they were easily customizable to the wedding details we envisioned. We were able to use both the indoor and outdoor areas on our wedding day and it allowed so much space for our guests to enjoy!
Getting ready the day of the wedding was very stress free. The bridal and groom suites had plenty of room for our wedding party to get ready, and they were equipped with everything we needed from makeup chairs and mirrors to jack and cokes!
Some of our favorite moments from the wedding day were when the doors to the Chapel opened and we saw each other for the first time, and also just dancing and enjoying the evening on the dance floor with so many of our friends and family! I think something that made the day so special for us was the ability to arrange and customize the space so that we felt it was unique to us and special for our guests. Everyone was so easy to work with and they all really helped put those special touches together like our signature Pimm’s drink and decorated London phone booth!
We really enjoyed having a private last dance. The day of the wedding was such a fun whirlwind of excitement, that it was fun to end the evening reminiscing with just the two of us.
I would describe our wedding day as an absolute blast. It was fun, happy, and energetic all the way through.
For future couples, don’t stress over the little things. Your wedding day is about celebrating your marriage so make the most of it!
Thank you, Jenna and Reid, for sharing your story with us! We are so glad that we were able to celebrate such a special day that you will remember forever. We wish you all the best in years to come!
