Real Weddings | Samantha + Jory | March 7, 2020
A spring soiree filled with beautiful blooms and thoughtful details, Samantha and Jory’s wedding day was one that we are so thankful to have been a part of. Having been featured in the latest issue of Brides of North Texas, we couldn’t wait to share the beautiful details and hear from Samantha and Jory about their favorite moments from their March wedding. Enjoy!
From Samantha:
We met through a dating app during Thanksgiving 2013. After exchanging messages online, we made the jump to meet in person and sparks flew! We met for the first time at an arcade-themed bar where Jory tried showing off with his Connect-4 skills, and Sam was impressed enough to go on a second date. Jory was still living in College Station at the time and kept finding reasons to travel back to Dallas for the weekend. In February 2014, we officially started dating, and Jory moved back to Dallas shortly after.
We had been together for 5 years before getting engaged and our time together has seen many milestones: long distance dating (Seattle!), many trips to Chicago, Colorado, and Florida, cruises, ski trips, new jobs, moving in together, buying our first home, and adopting our pup Nellie.
We envisioned a romantic, classic wedding with lots of greenery and a garden-like feel to it. We used dusty pinks and blues, and classic neutral flowers. I was obsessed with the arch for our ceremony and the piece on the mantel. They both created a soft and elegant mood without being too formal for our cocktail-attire wedding. The cafe lights were also a must!
We loved that the Laurel is an all-in-one type venue. We were able to get ready there, have our ceremony in the chapel, cocktail hour on the patio, and the reception all in one place. It made it so easy for our guests to have one place to be and not have to worry about driving somewhere else. Jory really loved the character of The Laurel, he was a big fan of the vaulted ceilings.
From Sam:
The girls got to the venue in the morning for hair and makeup. We had lots of mimosas, snacks, and early 2000s boy bands playing in the bride’s suite! It was a really peaceful yet fun morning getting ready. I had thought I would be a nervous wreck, but I was so calm being surrounded by my best friends knowing that I was about to marry my person!
From Jory:
We enjoyed lounging in the groom’s suite. I’m a big Stars fan, and we were able to watch the game while we were getting ready. We drank some beers and had a good time.
Our ceremony was really special. Jory endearingly messed up a few of the lines during the vows. It was really sweet and a total “Jory move.”
One of our favorite memories is dancing on stage with our band, Intensity! Neither of us are great dancers, which made it that much more fun. We wanted our reception to be a big party, and it really was! We had breakfast tacos as a late-night snack which was also really fun!
My bouquet had my grandfather’s wedding ring tied around it as my something old. He and my nana were completely devoted to each other, and I hope to have a marriage like theirs.
We would describe our day as magical, fun, and perfect!
It goes by so fast, in the blink of an eye. The best advice I ever got was to step away from the party for a few moments and just take it in with your new husband. Those moments that I stepped aside with Jory are some of the most vivid memories I have and I am so thankful for them!
Samantha and Jory, thank you so much for sharing these wedding day memories with us! We wish you all the best in years to come!
