Real Weddings || Mackenzie + Mauricio || First Anniversary
“Mauricio and I fell in love as most people do — one day at a time.”
Finding a shared passion for playing soccer, spending quality time with family and friends, and their faith, Mackenzie and Mauricio Lafuente found that love came easily to them.
They were married at The Laurel on March 26, 2017, and today they celebrate their first anniversary! Mackenzie was kind enough to share with us the moments from their wedding day that she and Mauricio cherish most. Enjoy!
From Mackenzie: We wanted our wedding to have a casual vibe that incorporated elements of nature and natural light. The moment we visited The Laurel, we knew it would be the perfect place for our wedding. Having the venue in Grapevine, Texas gave a sense of both destination and home.
Our favorite part of the Laurel was the chapel, with its large windows and wood ceiling beams, which gave our wedding the touch of traditional we were looking for.
My sister is a phenomenal artist so I’m lucky in that I can typically get inspired from her designs. I love fresh and colorful flowers and wanted to incorporate that kind of bright, springtime feel into the details of our wedding. Everly Alaine Florals did an amazing job capturing that vibe.
Mauricio's grandmother had told us midway through the reception that she wanted to share a song to celebrate our wedding. We coordinated with the DJ and within a few minutes she was serenading us to "Amor, Amor, Amor" by Luis Miguel. Her singing was so beautiful. It was definitely one of Mauricio's favorite wedding moments.
A few of my favorite memories are of the time I had with my best friends before the wedding started as we got ready and dressed. I also loved the cocktail hour, which was a great way to have all of our guests eat and mingle with each other outside.
Of course, the speeches were one of the more sentimental and memorable parts of the reception. Even a few unsuspecting family members shed a tear or two!
We decided to have a last dance that was just for us, while our guests waited for us outside. We wanted to have one last time to ourselves at our wedding venue, to a song that was both fun and meaningful at the same time.
We loved every minute of our wedding, from the ceremony to the last dance, and will always cherish those memories.
Happy Anniversary, Mackenzie and Mauricio! Thank you for sharing your wonderful day with us and all your most special moments. We wish you nothing but the best in the years to come.
