Real Weddings || Haley + Alden || First Anniversary
One of the most wonderful milestones newlyweds experience is their first anniversary. It’s perfect for reflecting on the glorious day that got it all started. Haley and Alden’s wedding at The Laurel is one that is worthy of remembering. Not only did it showcase the most gorgeous florals and color palettes — but the love and pure joy the newlyweds showed one another was palpable.
Haley and Alden were kind enough to reflect with us what they remember most about their wedding day — a year later.
Haley: I will never forget the feeling I had in my stomach as I stood behind the doors that were about to open for me to walk down the aisle to my soon-to-be husband! When the doors opened, I saw him start to tear up and I was shedding happy tears the whole way down the aisle.
The Laurel was simple, yet stunning. It wasn't overly rustic and it wasn't a ballroom, which was exactly what we were looking for. Our florist did an amazing job creating beautiful arrangements that made the room feel like the 'garden-y, whimsical' feel I had imagined. Add in the fun outdoor games that Alden's Dad made and the scene was set for a perfect night!
The bridal suite could not have been more accommodating and beautiful, allowing us to have plenty of time to relax and enjoy one another's company. Sipping on mimosas with all of your favorite girls on your wedding day made for the perfect start to the day.
Alden: The groom's suite had everything we needed to keep us entertained before the big walk down the aisle. The room came with a TV and drinks which kept us occupied while everyone was getting dressed. The sound system in the room kept me cool and collected as people started to arrive and time drew nearer to the actual event. Nothing calms the nerves like some soothing Zac Brown Band over the speakers!
The best part of the night was the awesome dance party with all of our friends and family, seeing all of my family and Haley's family together in one room, and our final “Sweetheart” dance.
Haley's Favorite Part: Our “Sweetheart Dance” after everyone had left the reception hall. It was the first time since being husband and wife that we were able to take a deep breath and actually realize what had just happened. The room that was filled with loud music and tons of people was now filled with just the two of us. I would highly recommend this to anyone and everyone!
Haley: During the ceremony our officiant told us to look at each other's hands and he explained how those are the hands that will guide you and the hands that you will see grow old over the years. Although our hands may start to age and look different, the hands remain the same. This really stuck with me and will remain one of the most meaningful, yet simple understanding of the symbol of marriage.
Having everything at one location made the night flow so easily and allowed our guests to not have the hassle of driving from one location to the next. All of The Laurel women went above and beyond. Our night would not have been nearly as perfect if it weren't for all that they did behind the scenes. We are forever grateful!
Happy Anniversary, Haley and Alden! Thank you for sharing your wonderful day with us and all your precious memories. We wish you nothing but the best in the years to come.
