Real Weddings | Amanda + Jason | First Anniversary

There’s a certain beauty that can only be felt at a winter wedding. Sitting snugly inside a chapel among family and friends, while outside the cold winds blow, there’s nothing quite like it. On December 1, 2018, nothing was warmer inside the Laurel than the smiles shared as Amanda and Jason pledged their love and lives to one another.

“I wanted it to feel like a winter wonderland without it being too much like Christmas.” Amanda was kind enough to share their love story with us, how she perfectly balanced gorgeous florals with wintery touches, and what was most important to them on their wedding day. Enjoy!

From Amanda:

Jason and I met through mutual friends our sophomore year in college as he had just transferred from Tyler Junior College to Texas A&M for baseball. We were both at different points in life when we first met, but I definitely noticed Jason's absolutely unforgettable sense of humor!

Our love story has been the furthest thing from "easy," and that's why it's my favorite! Between baseball, school, starting new jobs, and not being from the same cities, our time together was limited but meaningful. We always joked that if we made it through those big transitions in life, we could make it through anything, and that has played out to be so true. I am so thankful that God chose Jason to be my partner and best friend in life!

I wanted it to feel like a winter wonderland without there being too much Christmas décor with reds and greens. We used flocked evergreen and pine cones in our white and blush florals. Branching Out Events couldn’t have made our vision come to life any better.

[My mom] has impeccable taste, so I loved that she was able to help pick all the floral details. I actually had no idea about the floral arch entrance to our reception, she surprised me with that. It has come to be one of my favorite parts of our photos from that day!

All I could think about walking down the aisle was that we were finally at the moment we had been waiting for and everything was just perfect. Seeing Jason made the day feel so real and I can’t even explain how happy I was in that moment.

Jason and I had taken dance lessons and had a choreographed first dance. We were both so nervous about it and were practicing in the bridal suite, just us, before we entered the reception. Our coordinator brought us some hors d'oeuvres and champagne while we took a minute to practice and just enjoy each other. I loved getting that alone time with Jason!

The absolute most important aspect to us when it came to our wedding was that our guests had a blast. We wanted everyone to be on the dance floor with us the entire night. Our band, IDT Band, is part of One Six Five Four Entertainment and I cannot say enough great things about them. The song selections were perfect for all age groups and there was not a moment where the dance floor wasn’t full. They far exceeded every expectation we had and so many of our guests had asked who they were and how we found them.

At any moment I would look around and my very favorite people were all dancing and singing and having the best time. There won’t be another occasion where all our friends and family are all together like that.

[To those planning their weddings today] Just remember at the end of the day, not to stress yourself out too much over the little details. Your day will be perfect and what really matters is that you’re getting to marry the love of your life!

Beautifully said. Thank you, Amanda and Jason, for sharing your beautiful day with us. Happy Anniversary! We wish you all the best in the many years to come.
