Real Wedding | Shannon + Mikey | May 20, 2023
Magical. Unforgettable. Timeless. The whole day felt like a happy ending straight out of a fairytale movie.
Shannon and Mikey were wed at The Laurel on a beautiful Spring day. Surrounded by beautiful spring blooms and loved ones, we are so excited to share with you all the special details of their day!
We met in the third grade! We’ve always been good friends, but not necessarily close and we had never considered dating. In 2020, we reconnected at a small birthday party for Mikey’s cousin (who is also one of my friends). We talked the whole night about music and movies and the next day Mikey messaged me on Instagram and asked me out on a date!
I wanted a venue that felt cozy. Elevated farmhouse vibes. The beams and windows are what truly reeled us in. Those beams in the chapel are breath-taking in person. The pictures do them little justice.
Getting ready was definitely a bit nerve-wracking. We had a bit of a hiccup with one of our makeup artists but that didn’t stop us from having fun with our wedding party. More than anything I think we were both just excited and looking forward to the evening.
I absolutely love our pictures in the chapel, as well as the pictures we took on the lawn by the cocktail patio. The light was so flattering and the background was beautiful.
We wanted our wedding to feel very spring-y, warm, relaxed, and overall just really fun!
Our photographer captured some of the most beautiful candid moments. The makeup artist did a great job of enhancing our wedding party’s natural beauty. Our DJ kept the party pumping. Honestly though, our florals blew us away. The bright pops of yellow throughout the chapel and reception hall were just what we needed to bring in the spring vibes.
All of our family and friends said that they had so much fun. Everyone enjoyed celebrating with us.
Eating our dinner privately was one of our favorite moments of the day. I mostly remember being surrounded by loved ones and having fun dancing at the reception. Having a lot of our family and friends in one place, specifically to show love to Mikey and I was really special to us.
Looking back, what words would you use to describe the day?
Magical. Unforgettable. Timeless. The whole day felt like a happy ending straight out of a fairytale movie.
We are both music lovers. It’s one of the first things we bonded over so we spent a lot of time tailoring our playlist and letting our DJ know exactly what we were going for and he definitely executed! We also changed into custom converses with our names on them before heading out on the dance floor. Shoutout to Kayleigh for gifting us shoelaces with our wedding date on them!
Bringing the LED light sticks out on the dance floor definitely brought another level of fun and energy to the party!
Savor every moment because the day truly does go by in the blink of an eye. We were able to plan little moments in the day where we could have time to ourselves and just enjoy each other’s company. We’re both really glad that we set aside that time.
Shannon and Mikey, thank you so much for sharing your wedding day with us at the The Laurel! We wish you nothing but the best in the years to come!
