Real Wedding | Sarah + Henry | August 17, 2018
“Honestly, if we had been allowed to, we would have danced all night!”
The vibe of Sarah and Henry Lande’s wedding can’t be described better than that sentiment from bride, Sarah Lande. An unforgettable day full of laughter and tears (and the most gorgeous blooms you’ve ever seen), there is no denying these two love birds were made for one another.
Sarah and Henry were kind enough to share their day—and all its glorious details—with us and now they get to share it with you. Enjoy!
From Sarah:
Henry and I met through mutual friends while we were both at Texas A&M University. I had always thought he was cute but was too afraid to talk to him. We finally went on our first date after about a year of knowing each other, and have been together ever since.
We were together a little more than four years before we got engaged. We decided to go on a trip just the two of us, which we had never done before. We decided to go on a long weekend trip to Chicago, which we were both excited about since neither of us had ever been there. It was exciting being in this strange, new city together, just hanging out and getting to explore. When Henry asked me to marry him I was so surprised, I didn't see it coming at all. What made the engagement even more special was that our friends were there too! They flew out and were there to surprise me and celebrate our engagement with us!
I had looked at Pinterest for years about wedding stuff. However, when it finally came time to think about our wedding I felt pretty lost. I knew I wanted it to be classic with rich colors. Also due to the time of year we were getting married (August) we needed to have everything inside as much as possible. I was just in awe of the Laurel from the moment I stepped through the door. The place was gorgeous and everything that I wanted in a wedding venue. I walked in the chapel and just knew that was were I wanted to get married. The Laurel was so accommodating, and answered every question that I had. They helped bring my vision to life in ways that I didn't think were possible.
I (Sarah) just remember looking around when I was getting ready and almost not believing that the day had finally come. Our wedding had been something I had dreamed and thought about for so long and it was finally happening. I just remember looking around at my friends, my mom and Henry's mom and just being really happy. I asked Henry if he was nervous or anything that day and he told me he wasn't.
The pecan suite was perfect for me (Henry). It was perfect for having all my best friends getting ready to send me down the aisle to marry my beautiful wife. I have a picture of my dad, little brother and brother in law that I hold near and dear to my heart. Everyone was relaxed and the place was spacious enough for 13 people!
I remember being so overwhelmed when I was walking down the aisle. I was so excited and when the doors opened and I saw Henry standing there waiting for me, I just got so overwhelmed with emotions, I tried hard not to cry the whole way down the aisle. My favorite part of the ceremony though was when we were pronounced husband and wife. In that moment I honestly could have jumped up and down I was so happy. After we kissed I wanted to just hug him so tight and just stand there in that perfect moment and cherish it forever.
It was a little surreal leaving the reception. It was crazy that almost a year of planning was coming to an end. I just remember looking at Henry and being so excited to have him by my side.
The last thing I would like to add is just how much I loved y'all. Everyone at The Laurel made wedding planning so much easier than I expected and I was honestly a little sad it was over because I was sad to say goodbye to everyone. I appreciated everything that y'all did for me back then.
Thank you, Sarah and Henry, for your kind words and for sharing your beautiful day with us. We wish you all the best in the many years to come!
