Real Wedding | Lindsey + Chris | January 14, 2023
On a beautiful January afternoon, Lindsey and Chris committed their lives to one another in front of friends and family. As Lindsey and Chris put it, “We wanted the theme to be very classic and romantic. We wanted our guests to feel the love that we have for each other in every detail of the day.”
What ensued was a day full of love, fabulous details, and Greek dancing to highlight the groom’s heritage. The day was unforgettable in every sense, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who attended. We are thrilled to share this special day with you, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the love, joy, and beauty that filled the air on Lindsey and Chris's wedding day!
From Lindsey on Meeting Chris:
Chris and I met almost nine years ago in Corpus Christi, Texas. Chris was working for the Corpus Christi Hooks baseball team and I was attending Texas A&M- Corpus Christi. About a year into dating, Chris moved to New York City and I moved to the College Station area where I started my teaching career. We did long distance for about two and a half years. He eventually moved back and that was when it became clear to me that he would be the man I married. Along the way, we added two dogs- Maggie and Gus- to our family and we could not be happier!
What led you to choosing The Laurel for your reception?
We were very open when it came to searching for venues. Our biggest thing was location- we didn’t want our guests to have to trek across DFW for us, so we tried to remain close to the church where our ceremony was located (St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church). We ended up choosing The Laurel fairly quickly after we toured the venue. I absolutely loved the huge wood beams and the fireplaces- total statement pieces!! On top of the beauty of the venue itself, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us.
Chris and I both absolutely loved the bridal and groomsmen suites! The bridal suite was a perfect space for my group of 10 ladies. There was plenty of space for each of us to get ready and feel beautiful. The groomsmen suite was very masculine yet perfectly crafted to feel loved. Again, the staff tended to our every need swiftly and made us feel so welcomed.
I cannot say enough good things about the catering and beverages that were provided! Chris and I opted for plated meals and we started the night with a custom salad. The salad came with an healthy portion of goat cheese which really complemented it well (our guests RAVED about it)! For dinner we offered braised short rib over whipped potatoes, salmon over lentils and a vegetarian option that was the Yukon gold potato lasagna. I personally had the braised short rib and I cannot behind to explain how good it was! The portion sizes were just enough to fill us up. Chris had the salmon and it was also amazing- it was cooked perfectly and the lentils were a perfect complement.
The beverages were amazing as well. Chris’ drink of choice was a ranch water and mine was a margarita. Both drinks were mixed perfectly and tasted great. We had plenty of options for beer, wine and liquor to accommodate our guests.
Chris and I had a two year engagement so we really had a lot of time to plan and think about every detail that went into our day. Chris is a huge music junkie so hit only main request for the entire day was to have the live band and I am so glad that we chose Intensity Bands. The dance floor was packed all night long and our guests loved them!
I have so many favorite memories from the day but I think one thing that both Chris and I and our guests can agree on was the traditional Greek dancing. Chris’ mother’s side of the family is Greek and he has been Greek dancing since he was a young boy at their Church’s yearly Greek Festival. I know for my family it was very cool to see and participate in and I think everyone really enjoyed it.
Our guests had so many positive words for Chris and I. They absolutely loved the food and the band. We got so many compliments of these and we could not recommend Boxwood Hospitality enough!!
When Chris and I began the wedding process we looked back on what we remembered from previous weddings we had been to and really used that when searching for vendors. For us, food and music really stood out from those previous weddings so we wanted ours to be as good as it possibly could be and both The Laurel (Boxwood) and Intensity Bands really elevated our night. We got so many compliments on both the food and the band.
Looking back, what words would you use to describe the day?
Amazing. Chris and I constantly talk about the entire day and we honestly could not believe that it turned out so good. We had the best time with all of our friends and family, and we want to relive the whole day over again!!
Do you have any advice for future couples?
I would say, take your time and make it exactly how you want it to be. It’s your day and it should be what you want. Also, include your partner in the planning process. Little did I know, Chris had some really good ideas and advice on a lot of the details. Chris and I were fortunate enough to have plenty of time and we could not be happier with how everything turned out.
Chris and I are beyond grateful for everything that The Laurel provided. We loved Rachel and she made us feel as if we were her most important wedding. She always responded to us quickly when we had a question or request. All of the staff from The Laurel and Boxwood went above and beyond for us and we could not be more appreciative!!
Lindsey and Chris, thank you so much for sharing your wedding day with us at the The Laurel! We wish you nothing but the best in the years to come!
