At the end of your winding drive through our native Texas trees and feather grass, and upon your entry into The Laurel’s foyer, adorned with authentic Texas Hill Country artwork, you will find Julie Butkus, a warm smile, and your favorite beverage placed in your hand.
Our event coordinator, Julie Butkus is eager to learn about your event, style and needs. A Dallas-native, Julie graduated from University of Missouri with a degree in Journalism, and minor in Business. As Game Day Marketing Intern with the Mizzou Athletic Department, she discovered her passion for event planning and has continued it at The Laurel.
Meet Julie Butkus
Julie, what can someone expect at their first meeting with you?
People can expect an outgoing and bubbly person with a big smile. I am enthusiastic when I show people around The Laurel. This is such a big moment in their lives, it's a time to celebrate!
What do you hope to learn about each person that comes to The Laurel for the first time?
I like to dive in and get to know their style and what they are looking for in a venue. I want to know what their dream wedding looks like so I can visualize their wedding at The Laurel and offer suggestions and creative ideas.
I also enjoy hearing details about the person. For instance, I love to ask brides and grooms how they met and how he proposed!
What kind of different styles or events could The Laurel benefit?
The Laurel can benefit all kinds of events, from weddings to anniversaries, rehearsal dinners, social gatherings, holiday parties and corporate events. We welcome all and we can't wait to work with you!
What could a bride expect having The Laurel host her wedding?
I want her to know how important each of our brides is to us. We care so much about our clients, and plan to meet and exceed their expectations. Every bride and groom become a part of our lives, making it more than just our "job." This is a once in a lifetime day and we want it to be an amazing experience they will never forget! The best feeling in the world is seeing the joy on the bride and groom's face, along with their families and guests come wedding day. This is what we work for and this is why we do it.
Any final thoughts for someone considering The Laurel for their event?
